AES Shady Point, a coal fired co-generation power plant located near Panama, Oklahoma is seeking Senior Water Treatment Laboratory Chemist
Responsibilities: Responsible for plant chemistry such as water and wastewater quality and other plant chemical conditions.Establishes procedures, conducts analysis, monitors conditions, takes corrective actions and prepares reports.Responsible for lab/analytical equipment and chemical inventories.Interacts with appropriate agencies such as ODEQ, on behalf AES Shady Point, LLCEnter work requests into the plant CMMS system.Perform general operational maintenance.Initiate repairs and maintenance work. If equipment or consumables are required, purchase order requests are to be initiated and tracked to ensure that the work is efficiently performed.Maintain Area housekeeping and share in general Plant cleanliness efforts.Maintain a safe work environment. Contribute and report concerns and plant safety deficiencies at meetings. Generate near miss and incident reports for the same items.Assisting Operations / Accounts / Planning / Engineering & Performance GroupsSupport the Plant on a temporary or emergency basis as required in other qualified fields.Works closely with the Environmental Coordinator
Qualifications: The ideal candidate would have a demonstrated track record of the following skills and attributes: A strong work ethic, enthusiasm and the desire to do what is right.A desire to be a leading member of a world class Operating Team.Strong communication skills and a willingness to teach/learn.Proficient in computer use with skills in Microsoft software packages.Experience & knowledge of power plants is preferable.Degree in chemistry or demonstrated experience in water treatment lab chemistry.Be a self starter, comfortable working with minimal direction.Willingness to be a hands-on member of the Team when field work, inspections, or testing is required.US Citizen or Possess an Unrestricted US Work Permit.
